Hi
I am renovating my house and moving a few walls around. In doing so it has become apparent that the joists across the house aren’t all level. The house is around 20 years old and was built by a national house builder.

Fortunately it is only really a problem in the family bathroom and can only be read at the door resulting in a 20mm step. I am considering removing the 22mm caber board and replacing it with 12mm cement particle board. The web joists are at 600 centres. It will reduce my problem to 10 mm which should be dealt with by the carpet to tile threshold. Has anyone any experience of this??

If needed I could nog out between the joists at say 300 mm centres to reduce any bounce.

I don't think cement particle board would be any good as flooring, personally I would put a 3×2? Fastened to the side of existing joists 22mm lower than top of joists then infill between joists with 22mm boards fastened to the 3×2, then overboard with 6mm plywood, or tile backer boards depending on floor finish planned.
