Celebrating 10 years in business

Been in business 10 years this week.
Me and my business partner, had been doing bits and pieces on the side beforehand and banking the money, we invested £5k each and had about £8k saved up. With this we bought all our kit.
One thing I remember very clearly was only being able to glue up 2 doors at a time as we only had 4 sash clamps.
I think we were very naive when we started and never had no idea where the next job was coming from. Happy days.
Overall it's been great fun but very stressful at times.
Is it worth it, absolutely, anyone thinking about doing it should at least give it a go. However I still think you need a few years in a commercial workshop to really appreciate the speed required to make a profit.

10 years is an important milestone imo (particularly when you think how many businesses have gone to the wall in this recession).

Maybe an opportunity to send xmas cards this year to previous customers pointing out the 10 years. Perhaps with a referral voucher inside?

Congratulations Bob. I worked all my life as an employee of a biggish firm where continual work was pretty well guaranteed, and so had huge admiration for guys like yourself and your partner prepared to take the risk on going it alone.

From what I have seen of your workshop Bob you have come a long way in ten years, and your work looks great. Running your own business in the trades is not for the feint heated, but the more you put in the more you get out and that is not necessarily in monetary terms.
