Dunno, but the gent who gave a demo at West Oxfordshire Woodturners this week told us that a member of the club he attends has bought a cheap one from a Chinese seller & all the members are awaiting his feedback.

I bought a cheap one from AliExpress, and it turns out that it's a diamond wheel, no CBN.

I am still using a white wheel that was bought in 1992. I think I will take a look at CBN and dimond as I plan to move to HSS tools
My 1990’s maples are nice to use, takes a reg sharpen when turning hard woods

Two significant advantages of CBN stem from the wheel being metal which means it tends to conduct the heat away so the blade doesn't get as hot as they would with a ceramic wheel, and also they are not prone to break. This means they are less likely to over heat the blade and they are less dangerous to use.

No good for HSS, apparently. I'm putting mine in a drawer for 26 years, and then giving it to the wife on our wedding anniversary.
DIamond is no good for high speed grinding of any steel because the carbon from the diamond is dissolved into the iron in the steel at a temperature of around 150°C so the surface of the diamond is gradually depleted until there's nothing left. A similar chemical reaction happens with CBN (the next hardest thing to diamond) at around 750°C, which isn't normally reached so they last much longer than diamond.

Also bear in mind that CBN wheels should not be used for more than the occasional grinding of high carbon steel tools because the process clogs the wheel so it will require cleaning. Occasional use for HCS is ok because the use for HSS in between will remove the build up of HCS particles.
