I use the volume method for the small quantities I use, 3.5 to 1 as mentioned above.
Admittedly only using 1/2 teaspoon measure for the smallest amounts and a bigger spoon as required. (levelled off flush)
7 parts powder to 2 parts water is very convenient for me and I have not had any glue failures, and my turned sections certainly get put to some stress when finishing and glue join line can be just a few millimetres both cross and end grain.
