The secret with dry oak is VERY sharp tools, shorter bevels to keep an edge longer, slicing cuts and use of a mallet where necessary. A decent piece of oak gives a lovely crisp edge which is why it was so popular long ago.
definitely much easier with a fordom or dremel but a lot more satisfying by hand.
