Norwich Union.
The two worst words to ring in my ears.
My bike was stolen in August 2006, whilst insured ( Fully Comp ) with Norwich Union. I should say "Stolen / recovered" in the same day, found burnt to a cinder.
So an absolutely 'cut and dried , open & shut case'.
Full Police involvement, Crime Number assigned, etc etc
Claim lodged, same day.
29 Phone calls later, - and not once despite promising to do so, did they EVER call me back ( and i'm not exaggerating, I kept a record of the calls, times, who I spoke to etc etc, and it was 29 )... and they eventually settled with me the following February.
The claims office is in Belfast.
I believe that ( and I would not advocate this type of behaviour, its not big and its definately not clever... ) the claim was only settled because on the 28th call, and getting nowhere, I told the buffoon on the other end of phone that ... "I'll be over to pay you a visit towards the end of the week, laddie" .... ( read between the lines for a more accurate transcript of that obviously ) ... and ensured that he was left in no doubt as to the possible consequences of messing me around any further. Things should never have to come to that level, never.
A day and a half later, I called back and it was settled. But thats terrible.
I will never knowingly part with a penny more to Norwich Union.
The trouble is, that sometimes its beyond ones control... my last company's pension scheme was operated by NU, and I had little choice.. but never again,
Shockingly awful company. The absolute worst, bar none.
Have been with E-Bike Insure, ever since.
its dirt-cheap, and I've had people say to me " thats all very well, but what kind of service can you expect for such a low premium ? " ....
Well it surely cant be any worse than the shoddy treatment I received from that bunch of "F-witts" at Norwich Union, thats for sure.
E-bike have "a sister" E-Car Insure, and I'm sure they'll be equally as hassle-free and cheap as its bike-covering sibling.
Could well be worth a try.. its all 'online', and you can get an instant quote in about 2 minutes, with basically no fuss.
