I had this problem the other week when taking some piccys. The camera was working fine when this started to happen.
Has anyone had this problem with their digital cameras before,if so does anyone know what causes it.Is the camrea on it's way out :?:
My camera is a Fuji S5000.Had it about 5 years now.

Paul - had the same camera with the same fault. Took it to the camera shop and they said its the chip inside at fault. Their advice and my action..........bin  - Rob

Thanks Rob.
I did phone the camera shop and said they would need to send it to Fuji to be looked at,cost £10.but the repair might cost a lot so............
The fault comes and goes though.I was on the verge of getting a new one when this one started to work again and has been fine till today.
So might get a new one yet :D

Looks like another case of alien abduction to me - From the landscape you shot in that pic, I'm guessing it was the Venusians this time.

(OK.. I went down the pub at lunchtime....)

I'll get my coat....

Paul - exactly the same thing happened to me, the fault was intermittent to begin with and then it was faulty more often than it was correct so in the end I got fed up with it and slung it out - Rob

Ok If you have accepted that it's faulty then there's nothing to lose. Grasp fimly in the hand and give it a rap on a worktop hard enough to jolt it, but obviously not hard enough to break it, but we are talking a fair rap. It was a common with mobile phones a while back lcd's went gobbledegook a rap on a worktop would sort them out.
Just in case you are still wondering... I had to buy my daughter a new camera for the same reason and then tried the rap test and it's been fine ever since and is now my workshop as a knockabout camera:)
Next week how to fix those TV remotes that don't seem to work like they did.

cheers Alan

If Tracey Emin took that picture it would sell for thousands

I'd be happy with a few hundred

s
same thing happened to my model 3 months ago.
Chip is going.
Shame because the camera in my opinion was better than my lates fuji 9600, its too heavy so prone to camera shake and no motor on the tele lens
Otherwise there are some nice extras on the 9600.

Thanks DW.
So i think it might be on it's way out, though it has been fine since

Yes Paul the chip works somedays and not others , for a month I kept recharging batteries thinking it might be them on the way out.

How many photographs have you taken with your 5000?

I have 20gbs in my pictures. and I reckon at least 12gbs. have been taken using the 5000. Mainly set at one million pixs. I dont print pics. these days, I have a mobile hard drive for storeage.

So do chips have a built in useage?

You can phone fuji direct heretheir place is just down the road from me they have been helpful in the past when the school I work for had a faulty camera
