.....by today's standards it's probably old technology but for general commuting it's fine, you just need to plan a little. I charge at home and work (luckily free) and it's very cost effective.
Surely your situation is not what the majority of us face ? A daily journey to work? If all you need a car for is a quick trip down the road to the shops then EV will be great. Go for it.

It's horses for courses really. I do a 12 mile round trip to work, so top up once and charge fully for the weekend. This is enough for what I need.
If I wanted to drive to Cornwall every day I'd get a different vehicle.

I used to do a round trip of around 50 miles a day travelling to work, the farthest I’ve ever been from a job. An EV would still have been good. I had my own drive then as I do now so no problem home charging. It would have saved me a lot in fuel costs.

I already described mine, 15 mile each way commute and maybe a dozen long distance trips a year. I would have no qualms getting an EV with a range of 150-200 miles for that it meant affordabilty. The charging inconveniences for the long distance trips are minor. I think it depends on how fussy you are about making effort. If you're wealthy enough that you don't have to endure the inconvenience, then you get to mitigate it.
