Any recommendations for a pair of brass bureau flap hinges?
That is a flap hinge with the countersinks on the flat side, not the barrel side, set in, so that all is flat when the lid is open.
"Counter flap" hinges I've looked at, look wrong with their two barrels. Bureau lid only has to turn through about 120º not the whole 180º

Think I have a pair in my stores if you can't find any, do you know what size across the knuckle?

Cheers

Peter
Thanks for that Peter. Got to cut them in so any size might do.
It's a repair/rework on an old one which wasn't put together well and the original pivot hinges have broken out beyond repair. The design has two pull-out stays which someone forget to pull out and the lid dropped right down and broke away. Just bad design!

I replaced some bureau hinges for a client a few years back, and my invoice describes them as 'back flap hinges'. A google of this finds some likely suspects.

Seen them but they seem to be for flaps which fold 180º, with two knuckles. I wonder if they close properly on a bureau lid which just goes to about 120º.

Sorry looked in the store but there no more, I think one of my students used my last pair a few years ago. Good luck finding them, might be a bit rare now.

Cheers

Thanks for that but too late, just ordered from Restoration Materials: strap hinges which I will counter sink from the other side. There's not enough meat for the narrow leaf anyway this bureau is a bit of a bodge, but long strap hinges should span the problems.
WP is Worcester Parsons which seems to be defunct, except for old stock with various retailers. Cropped up here last year! : https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/thread...estion-about-worcester-parsons-hinges.143710/
Armac Martin look good but only a small range of hinges.

Know you've got it sorted now, but to help anyone who may stumble across this thread in a similar predicament a search for 'butlers tray hinge' will uncover something like what you described
