Hi all..... i'm in the process of refurbing a couple of teak steamer chairs

Before and after pics here....

Taking the second one apart yesterday, a couple of the brass 'bolts' were well and truly corroded....

and i managed to snap one of the insert threads off #-o .....

At the moment i've got the two ends soaking in a bit of WD40 hoping upon hope that i can get the snapped parts out :(

IF i have trouble and cant shift the corroded thread, any idea where i can obtain replacement parts from..?

As always, cheers in advance.....

Nick

+1 for heat.
WD40 wont do anything useful as it is neither a lubricant nor a penetrating fluid
You could use Plus gas penetrating fluid
Youtubers swear by 50-50 Acetone and ATF.
Diesel is quite good too.

When you get them out they will possibly be UNF or UNC threads because they look very much like the hardware kits that Rockler used to sell in the US when those chairs were a popular NYW project.

Try Googling 'Interscrew' or 'Chicago Bolt', not sure what size you're after.

Rockler used to sell them for Norm's chair but quite expensive - I think about $80 a set plus delivery etc.

You guys have come up trumps again =D> =D>

A little (verging on lot...) of heat did the trick (hammer)

A quick rummage through (one of) my box's of bits, and the very first bolt i pick up screwed straight in

Will carry on with restoration no2 just as soon as i can :D

Cheers guys..... =D> :eek:ccasion5:
