Today was the IWG ( Irish Woodturners Guild ) event at Boysie's

Guest Turner for the event was Johnny Hutton ( Chairman of the Dolmen Chapter ) , Very nice gent and enjoyed a good crack of which there were plenty :lol:

Two projects , 1, a bog yew urn , 2 , a Walking Cane

The bog yew urn was roughed to shape prior to the event starting by Johnny

This was then left for later in the day ,and when the 20 guests for the day arrived the walking cane project was started on a Perform lathe with a bed extension fitted

The blank was turned to a cylinder with a slight taper from one end to the other

A contrasting colour knob was turned for the top with a cooper sleeve between the two

As you can see 20 guests enjoyed the day a were willing to pose for photos

We also had a TRADER who had a good day as most guests purchashed some gooodies :lol:

Unfortunatley the Bog yew became too unstable in the lathe to continue with

And I forgot too take a photo of the finished cane :roll: :roll:

But Boysie has it here so I will try and remember tommorow

Will do a day 3 update on Sunday so watch this space :p

Well done guys looks like a good day. Eugene put on a proper bash there. Looks like a good craic was had by all!

The question is, will there be another bash next year?? ;)
