I have a UPVC front door one of the multi point locking ones. Just recently as the handle is turned to open it it has started to catch and I have to put more force down on the handle to get it to open. Has anyone any idea of what is wrong and how I can fix it? I have had no dealings with these doors only wooden ones. Many thanks. :?:

Check that the striker plates on the frame have not slipped or moved out of register, as the fixings are only into plastic or at the best a steel plate behind a plastic extrusion they can migrate.

Also check the adjustment of the hinges, sometimes the door sags, plastic being mobile, and the latches drop further into the strikers.
Raising the hinge adjustment can usually lift the door enough to give clearance.

I am no expert on the various patterns of plastic doors but these are all things I have found when "me doors sticking" has been mentioned in passing on a friendly visit.

Yep.All that Chas as said and a squirt of the old favourite WD4O on all the bits that move now and again.
The adjustments for the door will be under a plastic capping.

Thanks guys. I had it apart this afternoon and found that there was some dirt in the mechanism that wasn't allowing the bolt to fully retract. I did give it all a good lashing with oil while I had it apart and it seems to be working fine now. Thanks for the suggestions, glad of the help. :D
