If you are looking for a dedicated thicknesser rather than a combined Surface Planer/Thicknesser then I would highly recommend the Axminster TH410 - I bought one of these a few months ago and I cannot fault it - with thickness boards up to 16" wide , variable feed speed and with the digital display can be re-set exactly for repetitive work. The machine is about £850 and the digital unit approx £30.

The finish is spot on and I have used it for oak, elm, beech etc and had no issues with it whatsoever.

Gets my vote anyway!

Thanks Rog

That looks the business. Can you give me an idea of the floor space needed for it?

720mm x 690mm - Had a quick look at Axys website - Lots of other info about it on there

Hi Ian

I joined this forum after coming across it after trying to find a review on the Axminster thicknesseer.

Rog (Dodge) had just got his and what he said made my mind up, I have had mine since just before Christmas and have to agree with Rog it is worth the money, I do similar work and have put lots of Oak and Ash through it.
