I've been reading with interest some of the recent bandsaw posts and I was wondering, starting with a fairly typical hobbyist bandsaw (I have an Axminster HBS250N -- 10" wheels, 370W motor) what are the best upgrades that can be made with reasonable cost/effort? Is it just a case of going full Clarkson and screaming 'more power!'?

The only the thing you need is a super blade. Buy a Tuffsaws blade. Don’t worry about blade guides or anything else.
If your really keen, a blade tension gauge is the next best thing. Blade tension is the next most important thing to get right.

Sorry can't help ya there, doubt there's much to be gained
maybe making some of carter stabilizer if you had the need for that.
Interesting mod on a local site this week
Someone slapped a PTO onto this poor Centauro

Something looks worn with that washer being off center

I’ve got the same bandsaw and can resaw up to full depth, with a tuffsaw 3/8 4tpi blade. Have to go slow with oak but it does it well. I haven’t had to do anything else other than make sure it’s set up well
