Saw the Royal Marines on the box last night....marvellous, perfect precision. Got to be slightly better entertainment than the dismal England footy (according to my lad). Why was the presenter, tho', continually rambling on about the Marine Corps...never heard them called that before..maybe he was getting confused with the US Marine Corps...hope not. And then to crown it all, just as the boys were getting into their party peice at the end, the program ended! :x Rob
 
I once called an ex-marine a sailor. My eyes still water when I remember what he did to me after I said that.

Never call a sailor a marine either. That said what marines really like being called is a Navy soldier....

As a serious aside - if you want to know why the bandsmen raise their drumsticks to their noses, its so the drum command can be seen on other ships for instant response rather than waiting for sound to travel (or not be heard).
