Hi all

I have recently moved to a new house and I’m currently turning the garage into my workshop.

There are two small windows on the gables with completely rotten frames which need replacing.

I’m looking for some cheap windows to replace them, unfortunately as they need to fit the existing openings I can’t buy used ones and make them work.

Does anyone have a supplier they could recommend?

As much as I’d love to do timber ones, that’s probably beyond my ability at the moment.

Drive round some local industrial estates, the seedier the better. You will likely find a manufacturer who would sell out of the door to your measurements for cash.

Drive round your locality and ask any installers you see. The ones in unmarked white Transits, installing upstairs bay windows off two ladders with a rung missing would likely be more economic.

I bought a bunch of windows from modernupvcwindows.co.uk.
The dimensions were perfect, but they split my delivery because one of the panes of glass wasn't available on time. This delay was a pain, but other than that it was a good experience.

We had some work done by a local small builder - basically a one man band. I found him by asking on the trade counter of the local builders merchant who they might suggest as reliable.

He gave me the local DG company - on the basis if he uses them for a job they would be reasonable quality. No problems with several window and door replacemenst over the years.

Don't be tempted by premium price big names - basically it is a reinforced UPVC frame with two layers of glass separated by a few mm.
