Batch conversion of images

Does anyone know of a piece of shareware which can do batch operations on a large series of images AND retain the original filenames? Specifically, I need to crop each image by a given number of pixels on each side. I can do a batch cropping using VideoMach, but it does not retain the file names which is a bit of a pain, and I'm far too lazy to go through them all and rename them

Any recommendations welcome

Chiba, I would have tried ImageMagick but it looks a bit Unix-y for a Microserf like me , so I'll try Batch It Ultra first. Thanks, WiZeR - there is a 21-day unlimited-functionality trial which will allow me to get this little task done

You could try CompuPic Pro at http://www.photodex.com/products/compupicpro/ Not free but there is a 30-day free trial. Does everything you want as well as a lot more.

Also have a look at Irfanview and "The Rename" from here

I find them both extremely useful.
