I'm making some framed ledged and braced barn doors. Bracing needs to be in compression as in A or B so i was wondering why you so often see doors with Chevron bracing as in C. It's pretty common so i assume there's a sound reason for it but i can't think what it would be. Any ideas??

A and B can only be hung off the one edge, so two versions of each would need to be stocked. C is a halfway house towards doing the job correctly, as it can be hung on either side so only one version needs to be stocked and hence costs should be lower.

I see. But for custom made doors, no reason to do it like C
