I am looking to buy a bandsaw.
I am attracted to the Record Power BS250 being that it has a 120 mm cut and should accommodate majority of blanks. according to what I have read it is a "real" tool capable of doing work beyond it's apparent size. Not much available on ebay second hand. My concern is to buy this then find it is too small.
As I only have been turning for a few months I don't have much experience to draw on. I would welcome members opinions

be aware that the cut rating on all bandsaws (except perhaps the really big ones) is optimistic to say the least

the chances of a BS250 actually having the power to cut out a 5" deep blank in hardwood are neglible.

My advice would be to look at ebay and try to get something like the EB 315 or 316 or a startrite 301 , or something of that sort of size and power.

something like these

2-300 quid should get you a good one

Wood Spolier....

I managed to bag the second one that moose has shown you, the blue EB model..... again off of ebay, only used a few times.... £128..! how come so cheap? cos he listed it to finish at 11.57 on a Tues morning...!

Dont rush into it and buy something that's 'not-quite-right'..... wait and be patient is my advice.
