I needed to remove the table from my newly acquired BS300 bandsaw.

But on replacing it onto its four locations it is now out of square with the path of the blade!! (I removed the table to help transport and with the lifting!)

The fence has to be offset by about 5/8" from front to back to get a straight cut!!

There is not much movement when placed onto the location plate, so not much room to adjust!!!

It is an old blade, Waiting for some tuff blades to arrive...maybe they will help!

Any ideas or advice would be helpful.

Thanks

Gerry

Most unlikely that the problem is the table, with a good blade tracking correctly and the blade guides set correctly the small amount of movement on the table fixings should be enough to achieve correct alignment.

If it's an old blade more than likely your problems are down to that.

A very simple and admittedly crude check is, without blade fitted, clamp a steel rule between top and bottom guides; does it align with the table blade slot and miter slot.

Hi Gerry,

I had a similar problem with my BS 350 with the supplied record blade when I put everything together..
Using a Tuffsaw blade effectively fixed the problem, the alignment isn't absolutely perfect but is as near as damned and certainly a lot closer than 5/8".
Steve Maskery's DVD is really good on bandsaws and there are details for a fine fence adjustor which my bandsaw doesn't have as standard.

PS I thought the problem had reoccured when I put in another Tuffsaw blade to resaw some thicker stock but I'm pretty sure that I didn't correctly adjust the bottom thrust bearing and that pushed the blade out.

A band saw needs to be set up every time you change the blade, really, certainly if it is different size of blade.
Start with a new blade from Ian and work up from thre, you'll be fine.
Steve
