Western motors are made in a series of standard case/mount/shaft sizes so a repalacement should be found to fit exactly. Asian motors perhaps not. They had a bad reputation from early imports 20 yrs ago but seem to be much better now.
My Ax 5300 saw has a 1500W motor (300mm depth of cut) which is OK for veneer cutting but not for fast rips - even a 2" cut can be made to slow the wheels, but I don't usually feed that fast! Ax's purose built rip has a 5kW motor (~7Hp) so no single phase motor will be production rip bomb proof.
