I've always had problems fitting blades to my Record Power BS300E bandsaw. Following a blade breaking I had to fit the long discarded original blade that came with the bandsaw. The blade doesn't cut very well as many of you have found but it was very easy to fit compared to the other blades I've got. Luckily I have a nice painted plywood floor in my workshop so I carefully measured the blade length and noted it was 93 1/4" or 2368.5mm. A quick check and my other blades are only 93". It doesn't sound much but it really makes a big difference when it comes to fitting them. I ordered blades by machine type (BS300E) but they clearly aren't really long enough although you can make them fit by tilting the top wheel. I will be ordering my next blades by specifying the actual blade length in future. I should add that the Record Power manual specifies 2370 or 93"! NOT very helpful.

Have you tried tuffs saws
tuffs saws unit 17
dyffryn business park
ystrad mynach hengoed cf 82 7 R J
I have a record bs 400 and find them very good

That's where I got them Mock. I'm going to try Axminster next for a change.

If you order your blade from Tuffsaws on line, you can state the length you require rather than for a particular machine model.

I also get my blades from Ian at Tuffsaws but I did have one which was longer than it should have been for my BS350. What didn't help was that it was a 3/4" varitooth for resawing and tensioning those is difficult enough even if they are the right length.
In fairness to Ian he did offer to shorten the blade but as I'd struggled and used the blade anyway I didn't think it was fair.
Coincidentally I've just fitted a 1/2" M42 blade from Tuffsaws today, expensive but a beast, a real beast - and the right length.

I do suspect the varitooth design to be troublesome, since it would probably involve grinding a few teeth to mate the profile
of the other end of the band .
How much extra life do you get with an extra inch blade on a small bandsaw ,say a 12" saw ?...
and does heat ever become a factor ...
Never had to ask myself this as I own a 24", but just wondering anyway .

You could try Hamilton Beverstock.
I get mine from them, just supply the length and type. Excellent service.

I use axcaliber blades. I had one recently that just wouldn't go on the machine, even when slackened to the max. An email to Axminster and a replacement was received the very next day. Good blades, great service.

I order blades for my BS300E from Tuffsaws by length, 2370mm, and they fit perfectly.
