Dear woodworkers,

I want to ask you guys or there is someone who has experience with
the new Axminster MB1933.
I was looking for the DeWalt DW733 but this looks also as a nice thicknesser
and the price is nice.

Thanks Schummie.

Axminster MB1933 Bench Top Thicknesser

• 1800 watt motor with overload protection
• 330mm width of cut
• 150mm maximum depth
• 4 & 6 m/min feed speeds
• Digital Height readout
• Cutter head lock facility for rigid control
• Generous folding infeed/outfeed tables with rollers

Dear woodworkers,

I don't believe that there is someone how has experience with this
thicknesser.
I ask Axminster what they find from this machine, and they told me:

Dear Mr.

Thank you for your email, the Axminster MB1933 differs slightly from the Dewalt
the width of cut on the Axminster machine is slightly larger and they have
some different features. There are two options of feed speed on the Axminster
4 & 6m/min whereas the Dewalt only has one speed of 8m/min.
The MB1933 is a well made machine and good value for its price, however it is
significantly less money than the Dewalt. However the Dewalt is an industrially
rated machine whereas the MB1933 is only trade rated.

Kind regards

I still hope that I find a owner/user from this thicknesser.

Thanks Schummie.

I don't know if they are the same, but if you Google for:
MB 1933 thicknesser
it seems there is a Sherwood version of this in Oz with one relevant post in woodworkforums.com

Thank you Boz, that is what I want to know.
It is a great price difference between the Sherwood and the Axminster.
Now I know I must take a DeWalt.

Thanks again Boz.

Schummie.

I plan on getting the Dewalt DW733 planer soon which I can get for about £490 delivered in my country (Slovakia) but Axminster has the MB1933 for £330-340 delivered right now. I´d be using it mostly on smaller parts for toy making, but I might plane something bigger on it sometimes. Is the sale worth giving it a try over Dewalt? I´m pretty tempted, but unsure at the same time. Are there any MB1933 owners that can speak from experience?

Edit: there is the Jet JWP-12 I can get for the price of the axminster planer as well.
