Does anyone remember Tabwell Tools, who used to be in Bakewell and then had a similar spree of opening branches here, there and everywhere by taking over local outlets? I think they lasted about a year after spending all the money........

I do remember Tabwell Tools - at one time they had 3 shops in Bakewell within about 300 yards of each other, which I never really understood. I didn't realise they had shops elsewhere as well. Excellent selection of stuff though. I believe the guy who owned that went on to start Toolbay.net which had some good deals but didn't last long. Uppertown Tools which followed Tabwell was never quite as good, the guy who ran it was a right miserable tw*t - now thats more or less gone as well.

Would that be the shop on the corner Ed that used to sell kitchen stuff a while back?. I popped in there a couple of months ago enquiring about some Jap saws on display, felt as welcome as a f*rt in a space suit :? .
I`m coming to Baslow in a few weeks don`t suppose Rutlands have a showroom at all or is it all postal stuff?.

Some connection? I don't believe in coincidences...

It does seem unlikely to be coincidence for a small town like that to have 2 specialist woodworking retailers, having said that I don't know of a connection.
