The problem is....
these days, the scrotes get away with it even if they are caught...so they continue to do so. Police having to fill in multiple pages of duplicate & triplicate reports - which tends to be too much hastle, idiotically-leniant sentences which are only served on prolific repeat offenders, alternative punishment schemes, ASBO's, I could go on and on about methods which don't work.
Why?
Do-gooders!
If they are caught by a house-holder (or dog) and given what they deserve, or succumb to anti-trespass measures, they are then eligible to make a claim. Whose fault is this?
Again, do-gooders!
The days of inconsequential actions are once again being recognised, with a recent retreat of a previous 'taboo'...childhood smacking, where justified in relation to the relevant 'crime', is a suitable punishment to prevent further incidences.
As long as it doesn't go as far as total abuse.
Let me ask the forum members who are, let's say 30 - 35+, were you smacked as a child?
Why were you smacked?
Because you did something you were not supposed to do in a socially acceptible situation.
I got smacked as a kid, and totally hated it at the time but on reflection, if I'd continually gotten away with the things I did, I wouldn't have the respect for other people's property, dignity or personal space that I have now, thanks to my parental guidance.
Put it another way...
This current situation of 'talking' to naughty children doesn't work. It just breeds contempt...the 'consequences' are always the same...useless words and maybe a half-hour deprivation of a favourite toy, then a give-in & cuddles.
I got a short-sharp-shock, then an instruction to apologise after thinking about it and be sure to know what I was apologising for.
Things come around in cycles of how many years?
Regards,
Mick.
