That's so true. I got into so much trouble at school that I had letters sent in duplicate...ones that I was 'supposed' to deliver home and ones that were delivered by mail, unbeknown to me.
You can imagine the shock when confronted with letters that I thought had been 'intercepted'.
Also, at that time in history, if a neighbour or even someone unknown to you witnessed you doing something you shouldn't, you'd be sure that your parents found out before you got home for the night, then woe betide you!
Nowadays, it's "Not my child...he/she wouldn't do that" if things even get that far. It's more likely that any complainant will be labelled as an interfering old t**t or something similar, irrespective of age.
Far from being 'interfering', some of us actually have the foresight to see what sort of path that child is likely to be headed, if allowed to do so unchecked, from our own past experiences.
BTW, from reading some of my past missives, some may be forgiven for thinking I'm older than I am...
