Consider portability, will the kit have to be carried over muddy fields to find a dark spot

Thanks Frank. My daughter lives in a reasonably remote spot with no immediate street lighting. On a good night it is really dark. The garden is surrounded by tall'ish trees to keep out stray light, so as good as you can get without travelling to a remote forest. The binoculars I am considering already have a tripod mount. Thanks

Presumably with a star tracker and star stacker?!

I believe an image stacker was used. Per my post, I stole that from a facebook group I follow so it's not "my" first attempt, it was the first attempt of the FB poster. I currently aspire to such stuff... but it needs different equipment from stargazing.

My current focus is my house renovation... it is in a rural location so we get some very "big" skies there.

Yeah terrible shame. I pointed at the star in the middle of Orion’s sword and it was obviously behind that red blob of dust.
