Here's a bit of info for anyone with or considering buying AI chisels.
There has been an issue with poor quality ferrules. I just found 7 of 10 chisels where the brass ferrules have split. Presumably due to the handles swelling over the last few months. The split tends to propagate from the 'pip' although some haven't.
Barry Iles confirmed the problem being a faulty batch of hard ferrules. Apparently dule to changing suppliers after one went bankrupt. All to be replaced plus an extra chisel of my choice to cover postage cost.
I still like 'em.
