My local supplier, British Hardwoods, has 1" ash at £16.15/cube and 2" at £18.50/cube (plus VAT of course). They also have a 25% small order surcharge, but I often have that waived.
i'm probably still interested - £10 per cubic sounds fair to me , especially as you are a charity.
i'd be looking for 3" thick by 12" by whatever footage is practical - my only problem is that i dont have a big car so i couldnt get anything longer than 6' in
I'd probably take 3 3" x12" x6' which if my maths serves me right would be the equivalent of 4 cubic feet
however i'm making salad bowls so i would be looking for planking with a minimum of shakes and definitely no thinner than 3" thick x12" wide.
if this sounds practical pm me with details of where and when you are cutting as i would aim to pick up and rough out asap to combat checking and shaking
also can you clarify is the £10 pcf is inc vat or exc vat ??
If anyone is interested, the date for cutting has now changed from today, weds to fri 20th june due to a faulty washer on the sawmill. Typical a £2 washer holds everything up!!
