Are site saws, such as the scheppach and Jet ones any good?

I would get a Radial Arm saw in preference to a SCMS. Expensive new but loads available second hand and you can fit a dado to it. More accurate depth control as well.

Thus raising the dado debate to a whole new level. Personally, that's way over the limit for me.

Why is a dado in the radial arm any more dangerous than a normal blade? No removal of guards as on the table saw.

Yeah, OK, seems that majority of net opinion is on your side. I've never tried, but I have experienced a RAS catch and fling itself toward me with a normal blade and that scared the hell out of me. Intuitively, the dado sounds more prone to that. Oh well, I'll carry on being a coward, I think.

tom the sip and the record are about the same price ,but the sip is a 1/4 ton can you carry that down to your cellar . alf can a 16 yr old carry that much ? :D :D :D
