Hi folks
Looking for a 210mm mitresaw and seen a Metabo one on ebay which looks like it will fit the bill but never bought a Metabo tool before and wondered if they are ok ?
Cheers
Steve

I havent used there mitre saw, But all their other power tools ive owned are of very good quality, the motors are very good, 3 year warranty and very good aftersales service. I have sanders, router, drill, grinders etc and all been used for professional use

Hi Steve, yes Metabo who used to be Elektra Beckum do some excellent tools/machines. They are one of only a few companies that have an induction motor fitted to some of their 250mm mitre saws. I have the Elektra Beckum KGS301 which has an induction motor. I don't use it much now because I also have the Dewalt DW718.

I f you get a chance to get a Metabo at the right price I would snap it up.

Not quite right Mike, they took over Elektra Beckum, Metabo have always been around for years.

Steve, yes they are very good tools I have the their random orbit sander, very well made.

I see a lot of yes they're good... but what I don't see is the paramount question....

Accuracy,a cheap router will last a long time if used right but its downfall is it won't cut a !/2 groove precisely as the bearings are in poor tolerance and throw the motor a wobbling out of true giving a fraction over !/2 inch.

Hi russian router
Sorry your not happy with your metabo router, butl i have found my matabo 1229 router to be very accurate, the depth gauge is the most acurate to set of any router i have used

It got me as well.

A router is designed to resist the operator pushing the armature out of alignment. That's what you pay for when you pay more.

Every Metabo tool I've owned has been excellent.
Drills are especially good and rugged.

as "slimshady" says I dont think he is talking about a Metabo router just a bit wierd.

Hi Guys

I was just stretching a point ie some where saying they were built like tanks and built to last but thats fine but no one was giving the ultimate Q&A.

Ps I don'thave big boys toys money and have to do with Ryobi which is also a good router for accuracy.

The original question was are metabo tools ok.
In my first reply to this post i said my metabo sander, router etc. was of very good quality
Russian router implied that the bearings on metabo routers were poor, which i though was unfair and would put off some buyers, of what i think is a very well made tool.
And now it turns out he has a ryobi router
Iam as confused as the rest of you

Whats that got to do with it? I have to settle with what can I afford.

I wasn't implying that the Metabo was cheap and nasty I was implying you where all avoiding the important factor of "can it cut a straight line and accurately".

I was using the router as a scenario, eck doesn't take a genius to undestand that.

Come on guys lets nip this in the bud. The he said, she said, they said always seem to turn into an argument.

So would we agree that Metabo do good machines and power tools, and that we all neglected to say how good or bad they cut a straight line etc.

In the end as long as the OP is happy with our replies that is all that matters, and if he isn't he can ask again :D

Cheers

Mike

Thank you Mike.

I wasn't arguing to be honest and apologies if the scenario I put forwad didn't didn't go the right way I intended.

I do feel that when a review question is aked about a tool, that the important factors are also given along with its reliability and manufacturer.

Peace.

hI guys
Well as george quite righly point out im not a genius, far from it, but a professioal woodworker with learning dificulties
I feel i was trying to advise somebidy on the quality of tools and pass on years of expieriance of using tools
I dont want to see people spend there money un wisely, but i do feel less inclined to share my experiance if it can so easily cause confusion to the people who asked for advise
