Hi,

I have some 3mm acrylic that I need machining. Each disc basically requires 12 holes routed to a depth of 1.5mm.

I have tried and spoiled 5 discs already using the router. I nearly get there, but end up with one of the holes having very small chips. I am fussy, but they need to be 100% spot on.

SO I thought I would see if a cnc router with a proper cutter will do the job correctly.

If you have one and fancy a small job please pm me and we can discuss further.

THanks

Justin

I'm not sure you can accurately etch with a laser...

You could cut all the way through one layer of 1mm acrylic and glue it to a complete 2mm layer. There are optically clear solvent glues.

Would a milling machine be better? It won't rotate as fast as a router and will be able to perform accurate cuts to depth. Perhaps try a local machine shop?

How big and the discs and holes?

If laser engraved isn't a smooth enough finish maybe laser the holes then router the centers so you avoid the edge chipping.
