Anyone own a Sheppach HMS 3200ci ? need help

Hi,

Hoping a few fellow woodworkers may have a Sheppach HMS 3200ci planer thicknesser.

I am collecting the machine ( used ) this week and was wondering if it's possible to dismantle the machine in some way ( maybe removing the surface tables ) to make it easier to transport. I know it would be best to take the machine as is but it's not the most practical when complete as the length is over 1400mm.

My logic is if I unbolted the table tops it shouldn't adjust the alignment if the mounting bracket / panel stays as is ?

Any advice appreciated.

Hello And welcome. I don't have the above Sheppach but am very aware of the problems some members have had
with tables being out of alignment on many different models, so would suggest that whilst it looks as if the "swing" table for thicknessing could no doubt be completely removed, I would personally do anything possible not to remove the other (infeed) table.
Great care should be used not to even move the wheeled versions by the tables or bed.
I would hope that someone soon comes forward and tells you That I am wrong.
I suppose if you can look at the handbook or exploded drawings and then decide for you're self.

Thanks for the tips, I agree that touching the cast iron tops is not advisable but it's either that or leaving the machine altogether. So is it a lesser of two evils or a one way trip to unending frustration :?

Don't leave anything behind! Do what you have to do, when you have to do it,
Look on the bright side and crack on, I think you can post pics after 3, or 4 posts.

Turned out the machine was easy enough to handle without dismantling so all safely tucked away in it's new home now and getting prepared for action !
