Where do you buy it from?

Well strictly speaking I don't. I always offer, but the bloke who gets it never wants paying! He the best mate of a best mate.

It come from a little shop in Ilkeston which sells health food stuff, I think. But often mills that sell flour will sell the yeast as well.

Cheers
Steve

I use a Panasonic machine and generally make the Ciabatta (spelling?) recipe which uses olive oil. Allison dried yeast and organic flour.
Really tasty and keeps well.
Occasionally I ferment the yeast longer overnight which is supposed to be more healthy?

I have a panasonic machine which makes brilliant bread, but sadly what with the diet and everything, having nice bread around the place is a recipe (no pun intended) for disaster!
Great photo, looks like the Village People have a more child-friendly image these days...

"YOUNG MAN"

I just use the yeast sachets, it still tastes 100 times better than the stuff from the bakery. I can't stand white sliced loaf. Makes me itch

I'm doing Potato and Pesto later... ;)

My wife (and I, I suppose), has a bread maker - this is the second one in 20 years... Used for everything in our house that dough can be made into. My lad has a milk protein intolerance - milk / products give him the squits, so we substitute the water / powdered milk combo with soya milk / water instead. Tastes luverly! Once, when we ran out of bread, we had to buy some in, that went mouldy, 'cos we ran a batch overnight.

Oh, if you've got economy 7, set your machine to come on at 1ish i the morning - lovely warm bread for breakfast (sorry if you're on a diet  )

That's just some parallel universe that lurks about in my friends 'mirror'. ;)

only works if you can put it somewhere out of earshot of the bedroom. In our open-plan bungalow the clonking when it starts would be a guaranteed wake up.
BTW, can anyone explain an oddity with breadmakers - we have two Panasonics (well, the second was nearly brand new at a car boot sale for £3!) which are slightly different models, but one works fine with granary bread, but not nearly so well with wholemeal, where the other is the exact opposite.

DickM - it could be different thermostats? Or possible timing differences when the dough has been mixed, and left to stand - either too long or not long enough - depending on the machine.

Tip - try this if you want to double check,

Make up a batch of the same bread in each machine, set & run at the same time. Check which one stops first after mixing - leaving to rise, see which one stops cooking first - pick the machine that makes it best and ditch the other (Or, on second thoughts - see if you can get it replaced!)

Oh, and I sympathise with you re the noise... SWMBO makes a loaf every couple of nights - but leaves the kitchen door open - guess who hears it? Not her!
