Very good Philly.

Just trying to think what you could do next, to the soundtrack of "Duelling Banjoes" :)

Dom

Edit: the wife said you should be chewin' a plug of baccy with that music :)

Very informative.
Nice music at a good Level.
Shame about the distorted VO
Try keeping to the same transistions throughout.
Could have done with a few Close ups of the blade when adjusting,(easily remedied)
Camera work was good, nice and steady and you were filling the frame nicely.
May have been due to the encoding but it looked as though you were using auto Iris and maybe not white balanced correct.

Sorry years of video editing and work for TV companies as camera operator.

One of the better flicks i have seen though, pat on the back.

Funnily enough, that track is called "Cowboy Song"......
Tiler
Thanks for your summary - just what I needed. I should of used my headphones when doing the v/o - had to use my rubbish PC speakers, hence the distorted speech in places.
The video was planned on a piece of paper whilst the nipper watched cartoons. I forgot about a couple of points and I took some close up pictures which were to be inserted. Sadly they were too out of focus.
It was shot on my Fuji digi-cam. Not the best for video but passable for this kind of venture
Hopefully I'll do the MK II soon.
Cheers
Philly :D

Maybe you and Alf should co-host a longer video exploration into the use and collection of hand tools :)

Blimey, that one would go on for ever
We are here you know... [-(

Well as a thinly disguised plane gloat, Phil, it's just great - I presume that was the purpose...?  No, really, good vid; words really don't convey the lightness of the taps required like moving pictures do. As for any other video suggestions, like you I'm open to ideas. 'Course I could setting wooden planes with a metal hammer... (Mike Dunbar has a lot to answer for 8-[ )

Cheers, Alf

P.S. You planned your video on paper?! Yikes, that's horribly organised.

Alf (seeing as you asked), Philly:

I doubt this is at all possible, but i'm very much needing to make either a dovetail plane and/or a panel raising plane, how difficult would it be to do a very simple and short vid on the basics of making it - i.e how to work out the angles, and what sort of cuts are required?

Thats very selfish of me, but maybe there are others who would like to make one of these planes, but like me get a little confused with the angles and construction methods?

Byron
My panel raising plane is being published in next months The Woodworker, complete with dimensions, etc. It features step-by-step construction notes and also how to tune it up.
As for a video - I just happen to be building a dovetail plane at the mo'. I'll see what I can do.
Cheers
Philly :D

"coolbeans"? I think SWMBO's veg patch must be gettin gto you, BB. :D Phil's the man for the plane making without a doubt; I'd be having to bleep out all the swear words when it goes pear-shaped. "When", you note - not "if"...

Cheers, Alf

No Philly You made a "Storyboard" for your video ( Technical term  ) and noticed the word "board" so that makes everything ok.
As i said before it is one of the better homemade videos. keep it simple, keep it clean and get to the point you are trying to get over.
