Ok I was going to keep this under my hat for a bit seeing as I get some flack from certain members ;) But it was I whom bought Mr Black's TS200 tablesaw and it's now in my workshop. Until I get bored of it, I have another dilemma that I thought we could all have a bl**dy good chat about.

So in this picture we have the TS200 top and rails with the addition of my Cast Iron router table top. Now I was hoping this would fit and when I realised it wouldn't then I put it up for sale. Seeing as that's gone down like a CI Balloon, I thought I'd try to think of a way to shoe horn it in there.

Thing is I can't get over how ghastly it looks. Should it stay or should it go (now)?

If it stays, how best should I utilise it?

Hi, Wizer

Cut it down to fit side ways between the rails then you can use the table saw fence, or sell it and make a table to fit, I would sell it and make one.

Seconded

Firstly... (hammer) (hammer) (hammer) :tool: :tool: (homer) (homer) (hammer)

Secondly, do what Pete says if you can find a way to cut the CI accurately and safely and don't off any supporting structures underneath. If not, I don't think it looks too bad and the gaps could be filled with mdf.

Thirdly, sell em all and buy a Supersaw :D

oh seconded to selling it? That's what I thought. To eBay and beyond!

It's cast iron ?
Just scribe a line and get the hack saw out, it cuts real nice, if a little loud compared to wood.

Or of course you buy a suitable blade for the bad saw. (hammer)

In all seriousness, would I be able to cut or have the CI top cut relatively easily (cheaply) ?

CI is very soft to work with it makes nice wood like dust too. Just be careful your not cutting away supporting parts of it. Your going to lose a lot of money if you sell I'd have though so trim a bit of to fit it in would look good.

Nope. Just had a look at back of it.

I'd have to cut off the slots for the fence. Then I'd have to figure a way to fix the fence. I'm going to list it on eBay and see if I can get shot of it. If not then I might have to think about having a separate router table and just having a blank top in the TS. That kinda cramps things a little (more).

Tom - can you not just make a router table to fit the saw in the same manner as BB had? Or am I missing something?

Cheers

Karl

No you're not missing anything Karl. That's exactly what I've been planning since I realised the CI top would not fit. But I suddenly realised I might loose more money on the CI top, if I sell, it than I was expecting. So I was trying to think of a way to make it fit.

We can all see what's going to happen now...

You're going to try and sell that cast iron top on eBay so that you can head down to see Byron about that router table!! :D

Seriously, I don't think it's worth looking to cut the cast iron top, even if you could get it done professionally. Should you ever decide to sell it on again later (...), it would've lost half its value and appeal. You'd never come close to getting your money back.

Why not just make a standalone router table?

Can't see the point in that when there's space available on the sawbench.

Just make a router table to fit.

Then there's new toys (Incra fence, Router raizer etc. etc.)

Lots of new toys!

This router table sounds like it has history... Have you tried to sell it before?

Why not just make a standalone router table?

I posted a few days ago to sell it, yes. But not before that.

Making a separate table would be nice but no room for it in the shop.

Hi, Wizer

Can you extend the saw table to the same width of the router table? then it would fit.

Pete

Oh that's an interesting thought. You mean widen the rails? I'll have to have a look tonight at the way the rails fit to the saw.

Cheers Pete

Have another look at the pic John. It's too wide to do that at present.
