I don't really know the terms for what I'm trying to ask here, so please bear with…
I assume the carcass isn't butted tight against the chimney breast – usually you'd allow some leeway for things not being particularly straight etc?
I'd have thought the carcass would be 18mm MDF, and those stiles look more like 50mm, so doesn't look like its an extra piece glued on the side.
In any case, I'd like to do similar, but not sure what the best way of fixing the end panel on to the carcass is:
I don't want to cut the existing skirting boards out, so that gives me a bit of a bigger gap to deal with than if I could get closer to the chimney breast.
