This Aladdin N0. 11 came my way the other day.
It was caked in crud, lots of items missing and in need of some TLC.
This shows the crud and the dirt on the tanks.
In bits, the wick was rotten, with age.
With a seized wick, do not try to use the wick adjuster to free it, you will strip the teeeth.
Soak in in water a washing up liquid. Then with a feeler guage break the wick away from the metal.
New wick fitted, the brown stain is how new ones arrive.
This rebuild took a few goes to line up the adjuster as mine was bent a bit.
New mantle fitted, once the chimney is fitted you should never need to go near it again.
They need to be set fire to, before use, do this out side. Then fit and lock the chimney into place.
This is how they end up, as fraggile as a mantle you find in a Tilley Lamp.
First burn, it will get better and the heat will go up as well.
