I use my Table saw mainly for cross-cutting and am considering investing in a really good dedicated cross-cut blade. I'm sure this has come up before but cannot find the thread using search.
I have been pleased with Freud Pro before, but any advice - it'll need to be a 305mm, 30 arbor.

with thanks

the atkinson walker blades through wealdon seem pretty good value too, and are worth a look.

Thanks Mark. I have spoken with Doug Perry and he recommends a 300, 64 tooth. Sounds a bargain at about £35 plus vat and shipping (under £50 maybe all in). I had looked briefly at some Freuds which seem around 65 - 70. I shall be trying one of the Cutting Solutions I expect. Will look at Wealdon also... and report back.

do you tend to use (one of) your bandsaw for ripping then?

I don't use Wealden for saw blades at the moment (only use Festool) but have had them in the past and they are good. I also like the fact that all their prices include post and VAT (I wish other mail order firms would do the same).

Hi Mark - had a look at Wealden, but I did speak with Doug Perry and will try one of his first - good price, good advice. Have to say the blade on this machine (12" Startrite) will be easy to beat  A brand new Atkinson Walker 300 x 40T, but to be fair Lee at ALT did say it was a cheap basic blade. This saw is capable of a lot more, I am quite sure. new blade asap, then I shall advise outcome.
Indeed, I use the bandsaw for ripping. I know this issue polarises, but personally I do feel a BS is the perfect 'ripper'.

update - got my Cutting Solutions 300 x 30 72T cross-cut today (only ordered by phone yesterday morning). It looked very good straight out of the box. Fitted in a moment - the initial test results are excellent indeed. Fantastic finish.
I don't cut big volumes though I suspect this blade is capable of really hard work. What I look for is real precision, repeatability and cut-finish. It delivers on all counts.
Quaint by the way - there's me, card in hand, on the phone to Mr Perry. Nope, can't work like that. Sends the blade out 1st class, the invoice out 2nd class, and I don't even have an option to pay til the invoice arrives. Trusting, old-fashioned, quality service. AND it cost £35 + vat + shipping. I suspect around £48 all-in... way under any other quality alternatives I found.
Recommended indeed, I shall be getting more ( I do like a few blades around the place :D )
