A.W.Oak fire place surround

hello woodworkers had a small job came in at work not to fancy the customer design it all for the boss ect, so i thort i post up some pics of the work
the design

the A.W.oak for the job

some bits to rip on the re saw

all the bits read to PAR

all PAR'd

colour mach and grane as best i could for the curved front

then on the spindel to do the lighting joint for glueing up

then to make the corner posts

then to grove out the panels what needed them

then marked out the curve cut out, call all to lengh ready to be put to gever, some pics of it finished just waitting for the customer to pick a finish they like

interesting way of grooving the boards onto the corner posts. are they just glued in place?

the aw looks quite dark.

good job though.

its how the customer wanted no pins screws just glue, the aw oak we been getting hasnt been the best of late dont no why.

alot of the timber is....

sapele ive been using alot lately moves alot with machining, even the timber yard mentioned it...

What exactly do you dislike about it? Really? Its got quite simple lines to it, maybe it could do with a couple of touches hear and there but I quite like it.

I suppose it's not really about if I like it but does the client like it. I think it looks very well made and I appreciate the OP taking time to post it so I and other can 'look and learn', as a hobbyist seeing how the pro's do something is interesting.
