The technique of using a chisel to chop shoulders square isn't difficult, but relies on having bench top dead horizontal. The eye can easily gauge when a chisel blade is plumb (or vertical) on a knife line so then it's just a question of chopping down with mallet or hammer (if using Jap chisels)...a sharp chisel helps as well :wink: - Rob
