Arrgh!, I seen this solution randomly just pop up, the day after I needed it :ROFLMAO:
so might as well share and perhaps suck it up a bit.
I'll give the link of the "short" below, but will explain for ye folks who won't watch youtube

Starts off with grinding a bolt head round, for welding clearence, and the washer is ground a wee bit also.

The fit for the nut is close and needs a tap

The washer keeps the nut suspended for welding

And removed after the tack

So simple, and much nicer job than drilling through the box for a hex keyed bolt,
which I will never un-see forevermore.
Hope you've all enjoyed my tale of I could'a told ya that :poop:

Here's the link to the 30 second video
All the best

RIVNUTS......they need to be prop fitted....not too loose or too tight .......I use a drill n reamer......

plus not every one has a TIG machine......

Dont try doing this weld nut procedure with st/st......50% will end in tears.....lol......

if it has to be structuraly strong, weld the nut to a plate then tac weld the plate to the inside of the tube.....
or a much better way is to weld a heavy plate inside the tube then drill n tap it.........
