These are a couple I started a few years ago and just cant do any more to enhance.
Small one is a fruit I think it is Apple, the second one was a root that was bought at a sale and have no idea what it is .It has gotten very punky and is beyond my skills to finish any better.
The pictures are ar##ways as usual.

When I started work on these I was in detter shape than now,the small one is pretty near as good as I would want it, its about 7mm thick give or take a few mm.
The big root needs a lot more to be taken out of it. I only have the woodcut system which I got from Blister and am just not able to hollow any more. It's a pity really it's a lovely piece of wood that was wasted on me. But the main man is pleased with the result and it aint goin nowhere.
If I can sort out the pics.I will post a few more

Nothing like making things difficult for yourself Eugene, attempting those as hollow vessels.
Should not get over fussed with final presentation as long as tool and finishing marks are not in evidence, they are what they are, full stop. Some will love, some will not, the main thing is you learnt a lot about tool support and presentation so next time you pick up a sounder piece of wood it will flow more naturally.

Thanks Chas, the next time I will send to someone who can work it, I must say that I am pleased with it and is one I will hold on to.

I like the root. 'interesting' shape! The little round one looks fine to me.

The only man that has to be happy with the work is the man wot does it, if you like it - nuff said.

All those lathe tools - I'm jealous. I use just five plus my deep hollower. The tool rack is the only tidy part of my workshop.

Gordon Im like you ,I use about five, but I have 38 which I cut down from 73
Then it was just a matter of starting to stock up again
I still have some which I will never use, but they keep upgrading them =P~ =P~
