Here's some pics of a couple more boxes....

First a large ash one I finished yesterday. It''s 130mm x 75mm. I took the photo with a wide angle lens so it looks like the top is wider than the base - it isn't - it's a parallel cylinder. When I made it I quite liked the idea of the almost half-and-half lid to base ratio - now it's finished I'm not so sure... What do other people think?

As you can see I missed some little marks inside the lid when I was finishing it - it feels smooth enough, but doesn't look it. The inside of the base is better.

And here's a jarrax box 75mm x 65mm. The wood had some defects full of hard black stuff which I think are resin inclusions (?) - I just left them as they were and didn't fill them with anything which left a tiny hole in the lid, a couple in the sides and a big streak of rough black across the inside of the bottom!

Thanks for all your comments on my boxes.

I'd been wondering about grinding a negative rake angle on my box scrapers as someone at my turning club had mentioned this... What's a suitable angle to use for the negative rake?

yes I've been meaning to look into that since seeing you George, do you do it on the grinder or the tormek?
