Difficult to say what make of blades they supply with their own machines I suppose it depends if they put the blades with the saw or the company who make the saw supply the blades, you could try asking them but they might not know themselves! They seem to sell both Pegas and Faithful blades so could be either of these if they put the blades in the box themselves?

I wonder if the FD blades are going through a bad production stage or something as folks always used to rave about them but lately along with others on here I have had problems with them.

I have always found the Niqua blades to be fairly decent, I have not tried the pegas ones but I did try some Olson blades but never found them any better than the cheaper Niqua ones. The Olson blades cost around 3-4 times the price of the Niqua blades!

its not just you with issues with the FD blades, both geoff and i had issues a few weeks ago with them but unfortunately the seller doesnt show their face when we need answers but they are always there when the new scrollers wants blades though, strange eh!!..

I must be the only one left who isn't having problems with fd blades going dull stretching or breaking. The eye bowl I recently posted a thread on was all cut with a single #3 FD two way cut blade which then went on to cut several ambiguous chess pieces out of 45mm square tulip wood and will be going on to start another project tomorrow.

any good?
I seriously thought about getting one of that design specifically to use as a router based copying lathe (and for that I reckon they'd be fine) but my axminster 900 is in a different class and I love it to bits. I'm having a bout of back problems at the mo that've kept me out of the shed since I got it apart from one quick go during which time the only other feature I wish it had was the ability to reverse it so I could turn the back of the bowl instead of having to lean over. The headstock turns so I can get away without it but flicking it into reverse would have been so easy!

when are you taking orders? 9-)
Hopefully never. In fact even I wouldn't pay myself a realistic wage for the number of hours I put into a project. :)
This is what I'm hoping to start on tomorrow in leau of getting onto the lathe. The plans are still subject to change so I'll post more about it when they're ready.

When I started I bought a saw from Hegner and ordered extra blades with what was being supplied .

that it was mentioned that Mike in the U S . supplied great blades so I began getting my blades from him
If there was a difference it didn't show in what I was turning out . Eventually I had to give up scrolling for health reasons.
Over the last year or so I have read on here much rumblings on the demise of Mikes blades and how people had tried to contact him and failed ,so I set about getting a reply from him and he replied to my email .
I had told him folk on here were having problems with the FD blades he supplied and could not contact him ,and that he had not posted for a long time .He replied that his health was good and he had checked the forum and could not find any complaints . He also stated that the people ordering blades was increasing all the time and seemed happy with the product .

I would forward on his email if I knew how but these little things which my Grandsons make light of don't register with me ,so I will wait for a visit and post it on .

PS. If I were buying blades again I would go for the ones supplied by Hegner , Nicquea I think they are called .

God Bless .
