If like me - 61 and not as fit as I used to be- and don't relish a day cutting 8 x 4 boards with all the heavy lifting involved maybe this might help - see the video. I appreciate it's an adaption/interpretation of something I once saw, but it really works well. Most woodworkers will be able to unpick and come up with their own design I'm sure, but if you'd like the 3D drawing I'd be most happy to oblige but ask anyone requesting these to make a donation to Help For Heroes.
Thanks

Could I suggest some modifications for a mark II version for those with less strength.

They would enable the user not to have to lift the board so high to put it on and not to bend down to tilt it to horizontal.

Right now, there is a tall castor with a 2" timber on top of it. If the board sat on a lip in front of that, it could be a lot lower.

On the existing design, if the boards being moved were sat on timber bites, that would raise up their bottom edge and make it closer to the platform of the trolley - that will involve less effort to load the trolley.

Also, if the pivot was roughly mid-height of the board, it takes less effort to tilt and could be operated by a top handle.

Looks great. I need one with caterpillar tracks as I don’t have those lovely smooth floors. Well I do in the workshop but not the 50m I need to lug them to get to the workshop. I had some 24mm MRMDF a while back and it was very nearly the end of me. I had to move them in stages as I couldn’t manage a sheet all the way in one go.

Very simple design that seems to work very well.

I might look at making something similar but with a temorary lock for the wheels and support platform once the sheet is horizontal.

I had to cut several 8'x4' sheets down for a kitchen last month and ended up cutting most of them down the middle using my plunge saw just to make life easier.

It most certainly is not cheap, but I have one of these .......

It is an absolute godsend for moving, tilting and transporting large heavy sheets of material.
I regularly use mine to transfer 2800m x 2070mm x 18/19mm sheets from vertical storage to horizontal and onto the cutting surface.
Sheets of this size, there is no way I can lift one by hand.

As I work on my own, I would be completely lost without it.
It all folds up into a relatively small compact size when stored away.
The initial cost was hard to swallow at the time, but it is worth every penny I paid for the amount of usage I get out of it.

It really makes a painful day into very easy day - this week I cut 15 18mm Birch ply 1 25 mm Medite and 5 18mm and it was a doddle compared with the usual back breaker! 😄

Looks the business! Does it lift the board onto the bench/saw?

Works a treat- I cut 5-10 boards a week and this is just brilliant (works for me!). I made a few prototypes and this arrangement gave best balance and ease of operation

It was all made from reclaimed joists so all free - weighty timbers helped with stability

...A minimum order of 10...

The photo for illustration purposes is free of charge, with no minimum order.

This thread is about ideas for making your own rather than purchasing something ready-made that does not have a complete feature set.

This is the best one I’ve used so far
