The design changed quite a few times along the way ....

The main box is Redwood, legs, arm rests and back frame are Beech and the spindles / back panels are Oak.

Finished with dye and Osmo oil.

Looks good, initially, before I scrolled to the picture, the mix of timbers made me think it would be a right hotch-potch but it isn't. What lead to your timber choices ?

Is that for Wallingford? Saw the women's squad rowing a couple of times and they put us to shame!

Thanks for the comments.

It certainty does live in a room (bar) overlooking the Thames and Biliphuster you know your blade colours - the women's squad are bloody good!

I never counted the hours as it was done evenings and week ends but it took a while, as far as timber choices were concerned it was a matter of evolution.

Originally it was going to be like another one made out of just softwood with no rowing theme but as these things do it changed along the way, I changed the front legs into blades so wanted something with a bit more strength and the bend on the back legs required the same so as I had some Beech I used it.
The Oak parts just seemed to be right as it had a much better grain compared to the Beech and I find it easier to turn.

I did have my doubts about the colours and grain but after experimenting with some dyes it turned out ok and with the Osmo oil it gives a great finish.
