Roy.

If this does interest you, then I'm sure a little googling will find you that this has been discovered several times before. Having been involved in a climbing expedition to remote Turkey over 40 years ago, I've spotted several similar reports in those intervening years.

Yes indeed, according to a follow up on this it's hoax set up by Kurdish farmers, who knows?

Roy.

I have emailed transwave with a picture of the motor plate, hopefully they will get back to me.

Sorry for taking everyones time up recently, but you have all been a huge huge huge help, and now i have hopefully getting a solution to my problem. i will take some pics of my workshop in progress soon.

Do you actually need a brake. My BRT10 (basically an AGS10 with a sliding table) comes to a stop in well under 10 seconds. Even with a full stacked dado set (heavy with a fair bit of inertia) it stops in about 14 seconds.

I spoke to Peter Moss at Transwave today

I can honestly say i have never ever in my life spoken to such a helpful person, he called me after i sent an email regarding my requirements, he duly called me back within minutes of reading it i guess as it was 8 30am this morning, which was perfect.

He explained everything to me regarding all inverters, converters, rotary static so forth and so on.

Anyway after speaking with him for 5 or so minutes (at his expence-he called my mobile) he then reccommended a static converter that will run my saw at 495 + vat which in my opinion is rather quite good as it means i have a huge saw with a scribe that takes jumbo sheets.

He also then explained i needed a 40amp supply to the garage which is a 40amp breaker running on a cooker cable(he gave me the size, but i remember cooker cable easier)

So i was convinced that after 10 minutes of chatting that this was the route i was taking and was going to stump up the cash to go and get one in readiness for when my saw is delivered.

So i said goodbye etc etc

Anyway 10 minutes later i get another call from peter at transwave saying that he just had a phone call from a guy who was looking to sell the exact same transwave model that i require for my needs, and Peter gave me his number so now i will have in my possession in 2 days time a converter to get my saw running for 300 notes (half price) as i will be dealing with the seller direct.

Now if you ask me, Peter spoke with me for 20 minutes today at his expence and got nothing out of it financially which in my opinion is very very rare.

So hats off to Peter from Transwave.

I know i will be shopping there again when the need arises.

I just thought i would share my experience with you and i thank all of you who replied to my thread as without you i would be sitting at home 600 quid lighter and with a chunk of useless metal.

Many Thanks

Mark

Many thanks to you also Mark, for your feedback.

This has been an education for all of us who have given our opinions (I did type 'advise' but realised that should come from someone who is fully knowledgeable, and I'm pretty sure I don't qualify!). We are all the wiser from your trials and tribulations, and I, having put in my pennyworth several times, am really pleased it's working out for you.

The only thing now to compete the lesson, is to learn that it all does work.

Rob

Good to hear that it's all working out with your monster - that's one hell of a saw for around 900 - 1,000! We look forwards to it's christening (remembering the oft quoted rule "it didn't happen without pictures") :)

I don't really know if i need a motor brake or not .I believe it is a legal requirement but so are seat belts and i dont bother with one of them most of the time .Maybe i am just feeling over cautious about it at the moment as i have just lost a fingernail with a mitre saw kickback .I would be interested to see what others think about DC injection modules .
But i know one thing 14 seconds is going to be very messy if you get it wrong.......Now i admit 1 second would be bad enough as well if you got your pinkies in the blade .After looking at pictures on here of Wizers finger i'm thinking it may be better to ere on the side of caution .The guy i used to work with when i was a youngster also has four very level fingers from a jointer accident .
I do admit i am finding it tricky to find a suitable single phase module that doesnt come as a complete DOL starter.
Once again i have enjoyed this thread it has been very informative .

i know this is an old thread, but i thought i would let you know how i got on.

I got the converter previously mentioned only last week, i had to get a sparky in to put a 40 amp supply into the unit which was done yesterday, and now the saw works an absolute dream it even stops within 10 seconds Perfect.

It also cuts square off both fences after a tincy wincy bit of fettling, all i need to get now are a few more blades so its never out of action whilst the blades are being sharpened

atb for now

Mark

ps many thanks for all the advice had i been advised on here i would never have got this beauty of a saw. All in price for 800 squid>
