Hi guys sorry to bother you again, and thank you for the previous advice. Hopefully just a quickie, I was wondering if anybody could sort me out with some advice. On only my second post I managed to break the forum rules (thank you Blister for pointing it out to me). I was wondering if anybody could help put a price on the following well used, well looked after machinery?

A single phase, startrite combination saw (circular saw, plainer, thicknesser, spindle moulder)
All fences available
Plainer: 12x9
Saw blade: 10”

A Felder bandsaw, 20” throat with height of cut roughly 12”

A Multico M floor standing hollow chisel Morticer. 1.1kw motor

An Axminister double bag extractor. 3 HP. 3 inlets

A Thyme Avon lathe. 48” bed. With bowl turning attachment

A nearly new Dewalt 12” sliding chopsaw

A Sealy horizontal and vertical belt and disc sander. Model no. SM15

Axminister cordless chopsaw 7” blade

Draper 25L oil free compressor

Magnum Compressor 3hp with large tank

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could do an advanced search on eBay, click completed listings, and see what they have actually sold for.

Prices in green sold, prices in red didn't

regards

Brian

I think that a rule of thumb is between 50% - 75% of the original price. For some of the newer stuff you may get around 80%.

For some of your bigger single phase items you will get a premium compared to 3 phase stuff, so don't sell it too cheaply!

Final consideration is your location, if your are in a more remote area of the UK it may put people off; on the other hand your could be lucky and have somebody locally who is after what you are selling. Consider offering a courier arrangement for the bigger items to encourage people further afield to buy.

Location affects the sale, more than the price I feel. I don't mind travelling reasonable distances to pick up larger items, even if it's going to cost a bit more in petrol than shipping. I usually treat it as a day out, and it also gives the car a much needed run.

But yes, I do skip over eBay items if they are too far away. In itself, that shouldn't affect the price too much, but it does restrict your market.

John :)

I regularly go to the US on business and have a couple of woodworking friends over there. They report that prices of used woodworking machinery are falling, quite fast in some cases. They reckon it's because of the collapse in house prices and house building, plus the high unemployment rate. I wonder if we'll see something similar here as the cuts start to bite and house prices continue to slide?

If you are looking for advice on selling prices best to post up the model numbers of the machines so we know what you have

Just saying 12" dewalt saw or Felder band saw , both these company's do more than one in the range

Hello. Thanks for all the replies, again some really sound advice.
I am selling and only hoping for around 50% of the original price, however, the machinery is located in the most rural of locations miles away from anywhere. So I guess I just need to cross my fingers and hope someone relatively local needs/wants them. Just wondering what are the general views on the prices listed in brackets below? Too high or about right? Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Cheers

If you offer a courier service in your listing then I reckon you will get a lot more interest. I've used Brooks Transport before and been very happy with their service. I've had a pretty heavy Sedgwick 12" P/T and a Scheppach TS4010 T/S with all sliding tables and extensions sent over to me from the other end of the country for £45-£50 very reasonable IMHO.

Worth a try getting other quotes though, I've tried posting on Shiply with varying degrees of success.

Good luck with it. Cheers _Dan

Axminister cordless chopsaw 7” blade (£40)

Is the above just a blade or a machine? If blade then its to much and we would need to know tooth count, bore and kerf.

The 12" dewalt, What is the model?
