A cracker Brian and well up to your usual standard.

I cut this one for my wife's birthday, a couple of months ago, mainly out of mahogany as we have a red squirrel who lives at the bottom our garden. We haven't seen much of him during the summer as the trees and bushes have hidden him from view. I admire your cutting out of the eye as I found it really challenging and have the blade 'nick marks' to prove it.

Many thanks for the explanation Brian - very helpful. They are very small pieces to cut out, aren't they, and I wasn't that keen on having my fingers that close to the blade but I managed a reasonable attempt ;-)

As I said, mine was mainly cut from mahogany to look like the little fella at the bottom of our garden but I do like your choices of wood.

Thanks for the update Brian. That makes a lot of good sense from a safety and stability point of view.

It wasn't until we moved here that I saw my first wild red squirrel. We also love 'em both . . . . but the reds look gorgeous. I kept seeing this little fella in the woodland at the bottom of the garden and would call out to my wife to "come see". Sods Law that by the time she arrived he'd legged it. She did eventually see him though.
